Day 3 - Durban

This post is coming in "Africa Time" which loosely means unpredictable, late but good natured. Yesterday we went to Durban for the second semi-final between Spain and Germany. The stadium, Moses Mohiba Stadium might be the most beautiful stadium I've ever seen (and I've seen an awful lot of them. The 'handle' that runs across the top has a tram you can ride to the top where you can get out and walk around a small viewing platform. Apparently you can bungee jump from there too!

The game was excellent - and I'm very happy to see Spain win, especially because they are the only team left in my bracket :-(

Getting home was a challenge. The airport in Durban, King Shaka International has never had a busier day, compounded by an unexpectedly large influx of private jets (including ours). It was so busy that our plane had to fly 6 minutes away to a mothballed air field because King Shaka ran out of space on the tarmac. That meant our plane had to wait for a slot to fly back and pick us up. We ended up leaving about 3 hours late, departing Durban at 4:30am and returning us to the hotel by 7am, 20 hours after we left. Thank goodness the plane was super comfy.
